Maspartner and Kudos bring 100+ Chinese sellers and Longgang officials together to explore how U.S. company formation, compliance and M&A can convert manufacturing scale into brand value.
NEW DELHI, INDIA , September 24, 2026:
Mercurius Advisory Services (Maspartner) and Kudos co-hosted the North American Retail Source and Brand M&A Practice Workshop on September 9, 2026, at the Longgang Enterprise International Service Base in Shenzhen/Longgang China, bringing together more than 100 leading sellers and manufacturers, along with government officials from the Longgang Chamber of Commerce, to address the market-entry and ownership gaps limiting Chinese businesses from capturing greater value in the U.S. market.
The workshop highlighted a striking market imbalance: Chinese sellers account for approximately 56% of major e-commerce listing positions but capture only around 29% of actual revenues. Chinese manufacturers produce the same or comparable products that U.S. companies market under established brands and sell at premium prices.
The missing link is often U.S. corporate presence, intellectual property protection, compliance infrastructure and brand ownership.
For manufacturers generating significant revenues in their domestic markets, entering the U.S. can still present considerable operational and legal friction. Government officials from the Longgang Chamber of Commerce acknowledged that even multi-millionaire business owners can struggle to expand internationally when company formation, taxation, regulatory requirements and market-entry structures become barriers. The discussion reframed international expansion from an export challenge into a business-ownership opportunity.
Siddhartha Havelia, Co-Founder & CEO of MAS, emphasized that the right structure can fundamentally change how a manufacturer participates in a foreign market. “Borders, visas and geographic boundaries do not limit global business growth – compliance and setup friction does. A business does not need to remain only a supplier to the U.S. market. With the right structure, it can establish its own American presence, protect its interests and participate directly in the value it creates.”
Rohit Kumar, CA and Global Compliance / Business Setup Expert, outlined two principal routes for Chinese sellers seeking U.S. market entry: build or buy. The first involves creating a U.S. company and developing an authentic American brand from the ground up, with appropriate tax, compliance and IP structures. The second involves acquiring an established U.S. company or brand through Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), providing an existing corporate platform, customer base and market presence.
The workshop positioned this build-versus-buy framework as a practical response to the widening gap between manufacturing scale and brand value. For global sellers, the strategic question is increasingly not simply how to sell more products in America, but how to own more of the business value generated there.
